General Information

 The Township of East Brunswick has part-time seasonal employment opportunities for individuals who wish to join our staff. In many cases, staff often works with us until events in their lives such as graduation from high school or college or full-time employment in their chosen careers force them to stop working with us. This is a perfect time to describe a typical counselor. Our staff must have the following qualities:

1. They must get an “A” in the report card section entitled: “Works and plays well with others”.

2. They have good hearts. (They love kids, accept them as they are, see our program participants as children first and secondly, as individuals who have special needs.)

3. They must have “good legs”. (Not “shapely legs” but they must react quickly, think fast, look ahead to see what is needed and act appropriately.)

4. They must take direction from those who are in positions to give it as well as be appreciative of the offer of assistance and suggestions from staff that have been with us in previous seasons and may be able to offer help.

5. They understand that asking for assistance is normal and expected.

6. They bring to each program their love of children, and they wish to assist in guiding and enabling them to enjoy the activities being offered.

7. They leave all problems and issues in their lives at home, as once we come together as the staff, our collective focus is directed completely to our children.

8. They understand that after the children with whom we work who are first, they, the staff, are the most important people in our programs.

9. They do not need to have years of experience working with people who have special needs. All they need is the desire to make each experience memorable for a child.

10. They understand and are fully committed to the belief that, “Each child is deserving of having a wonderful day with us. It is our responsibility to ensure that this happens for each child every day."

If, after reading all that describes a typical member of our staff, you wish to apply for a position with us, please do so. Before we can schedule an interview/volunteer experience, you must complete the Employment Application (Please circle Daisy Program at the top), two copies of the Reference Check Form and the Commitment to Work. After we've received these forms, we will contact you.  After an interview, if we feel that you would be a person who would be appropriate for a specific position, we would offer you a position on behalf of the Township. At that point you would need to complete the rest of the employment forms. All the forms you will need are on this website as PDF files.

The positions and rates of pay for the Summer, 2012 Daisy Recreation Program are:

Division Leaders:                    $25.00 p/h    (Must be a teacher of Special Education)

Registered Nurse                    $25.00 p/h    (Currently working as a School Nurse)

Counselors (college grad.)     $10.40 p/h

Counselors (in college)           $9.15 p/h

Junior Counselors (in H.S.)     $7.45 p/h

Counselor in Training (non-salaried, must be 15 years of age)

Volunteers (non-salaried, must be 16 years of age) 

Bus Drivers                                $16.00 p/h
(Must have appropriate license and endorsements. Must currently be employed as a school bus driver)
